Going Greener By Example
Now, to make sure you chose a bit greener we give more green points for buying green labelled products. See those little labels below the price? Look out for orange or green ones, but try and avoid the red. Products are rated using independent schemes such as the EU Energy Label, the Soil Association, Fairtrade Foundation and Forest Stewardship Council.
Use the clever simple search and filter tools and watch how the green rated products float to the top and the red rated ones to the bottom.
The green filter shows green rated products only. If you want more choice, use the orange filter to show all products in the "better half".
For more product information, including a brand or retailer rating, just click the title or image. Head over to the retailer's website if you are wanting to deepen your research, we'll try and remember who you are when you are ready to buy!
Products may also have extra descriptive "tags", in our little example: greenwash. Try clicking one.
Do users have a say? Sure they do.
1. Without signing up you can greenthumb or redthumb a product (currently those thumbs collect eggs - more eggs good - less eggs bad). (Sorry we have had to turn this off.)
2. Without signing up, you can let us know about any kinks or strange stuff that has crept into the product listings: "Report product listing". (Sorry we have had to turn this off.)
3. When you sign up you can rate, review, bookmark and tag products.
We are already working new and fun ways to get you more involved.
